Chimneys in Riga and the Riga region vary a lot

In central Riga, in Vecrīga and in pre-war masonry buildings there are often brick chimneys with several flues serving stoves on several storeys. There, access to the roof and the attic matters, and each flue has to be described separately in the certificate.

In neighbourhoods of apartment buildings, most buildings are on district heating, but every building has ventilation ducts, and in some places flats have gas cookers or other gas appliances. In an apartment building a certificate is drawn up after every cleaning. In rooms with gas appliances, ventilation ducts are cleaned and checked at least once every five years, in other rooms at least once every ten years. Regulations checked 04.11.2026; from 2 January 2027 they will be replaced by new fire safety regulations, which we will check as soon as they are adopted.

In neighbourhoods of private houses and in villages of the Riga region you find everything: old wooden houses with masonry stoves and tiled stoves, new builds with modular chimneys, pellet and gas boilers, saunas with their own flue.
